  • Refer to the official notification for any additional relaxation specifically for reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC etc.) as there might be separate rules for them.

Important Notes for Ex-servicemen (ESM):

  • The gap between your discharge date from the military and applying for the constable position (as of April 1, 2024) cannot be more than four years.

HSSC Constable Recruitment 2024 Selection Process

1. Common Eligibility Test (CET):

  • This is an external qualifying exam, likely conducted by HSSC periodically.
  • You’ll need to pass the CET to be considered for the HSSC Constable position.
  • The specific details about applying for and taking the CET (e.g., format, syllabus, registration process) are likely available on the HSSC website. Be sure to check there for the latest information.

2. Shortlisting:

  • Based on your score in the CET, HSSC will shortlist candidates for the next stages.
  • They aim to shortlist a pool of candidates four times the number of advertised positions for each category (General, SC, ST, OBC etc.). This ensures enough qualified candidates are available for the later stages.

3. Physical Measurement Test (PMT):

  • This stage involves measuring your height, weight, chest circumference, and other physical attributes.
  • The specific standards for each measurement are outlined in Appendix-B of the Haryana Police (Non-Gazetted and Other Ranks) Service Rules, 2017 (available on the HSSC website most likely).
  • To ensure transparency, they’ll use digital measuring devices whenever possible, allowing you to see your measurements displayed.
  • Only candidates who meet all the prescribed physical measurement standards will be allowed to proceed further.

4. Physical Screening Test (PST):

  • This is a basic fitness test to assess your physical endurance.
  • The required distance you need to run depends on whether you’re an ex-serviceman or not:
    • Male candidates: 2.5 kilometers within 12 minutes.
    • Ex-servicemen: 1.0 kilometer within 5 minutes.
  • It’s crucial to be in good physical condition to pass this test. Failing the PST will eliminate you from the selection process.
  • The responsibility to ensure you’re medically fit to undergo this test lies with you.

5. Knowledge Test (KT):

  • This written test carries the most weightage (64.5%) in the selection process.
  • The test covers various topics, including:
    • General Knowledge (current affairs, GK etc.)
    • Upkeep, maintenance & management of horses (especially relevant if horse riding is involved in the constable role)
  • The syllabus also mentions specific weightage for certain topics:
    • Minimum 10% of questions will test your basic computer knowledge.
    • Minimum 20% of questions will focus on Haryana-specific topics (history, geography etc.).
  • The difficulty level is expected to be suitable for someone who has passed the 10+2 exam.

6. Riding Skills Test (20 Marks):

  • This test is only applicable if horse riding is a requirement for the specific constable role you’re applying for.
  • It assesses your proficiency in riding and caring for horses.
  • Your score in this test can significantly impact your overall selection chances.

7. Additional Weightage (up to 5.5 Marks):

  • You can earn extra points in this category based on two factors:
    • NCC Certificate: Having an NCC certificate (A, B, or C level) can grant you 1 to 3 marks depending on the level.
    • Socioeconomic Background: As per government policies, candidates from eligible backgrounds might receive a maximum of 2.5 marks based on the Common Eligibility Test Policy.

8. Bonus Points for Competition Achievements (Up to 10 Marks)

This section explains how you can earn extra points (up to 10 marks) in the HSSC Constable recruitment process based on your participation and achievements in equestrian (horse-related) championships.

Here’s the details:

  • Eligible Events: Only equestrian (horse riding) championships are considered.
  • Levels: You can get points for achievements at International, National, and State levels.
  • Points Awarded: The number of points depends on the level of the championship and the medal you won:
    • Gold Medal:
      • International Championship: 10 points
      • National Championship: 7 points
      • State Championship: 4 points
    • Silver Medal:
      • International Championship: 9 points
      • National Championship: 6 points
      • State Championship: 3 points
    • Bronze Medal:
      • International Championship: 8 points
      • National Championship: 5 points
      • State Championship: 2 points
  • Important Note: You’ll only receive points for your highest achievement across all events and levels. So, if you won a gold medal at the National Championship and a silver medal at the State Championship, you’ll only get the 7 points for the National Championship gold.
