UPSC CAPF Recruitment 2024 Selection Process

The UPSC CAPF Assistant Commandant Exam selection process consists of four stages:

1. Written Examination (August 4th, 2024):

• This stage involves two objective-type papers conducted by the UPSC.
  • Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence (250 Marks) – Covers areas like reasoning, math, science awareness, current affairs, Indian polity & economy, history, and geography. (Questions in English and Hindi)
  • Paper II: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension (200 Marks) – Includes essay writing (choice of English or Hindi), comprehension passages, précis writing, and other communication skills testing. (English only)
• There will be minimum qualifying marks for each paper, decided by the UPSC. Only candidates who qualify in Paper I will have their Paper II evaluated.

2. Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests (After Written Exam):

• Candidates who qualify in the written exam will be called for these tests.
• Physical Standards: Candidates must meet the prescribed physical requirements (details provided in Appendix-VI of the notification).
• Physical Efficiency Tests (PET): If you meet the physical standards, you’ll take these tests:
  • Men: 100m race (16 seconds), 800m race (3 minutes 45 seconds), Long Jump (3.5 meters, 3 chances), Shot Put (4.5 meters, 3 chances)
  • Women: 100m race (18 seconds), 800m race (4 minutes 45 seconds), Long Jump (3.0 meters, 3 chances)
• Medical Standards Tests: Only candidates who pass the PET will undergo these tests to ensure they meet medical fitness criteria (details provided in Appendix-V of the notification).
• Appeals against Medical Standards Tests results can be submitted within 24 hours to the Ministry of Home Affairs’ designated Appellate Authority.

3. Interview/Personality Test (After Medical Tests):

• Candidates who pass the medical tests will be called for an interview by the UPSC (150 Marks).
• Medically unfit candidates who win an appeal before the Appellate Authority will be interviewed provisionally.
• Shortlisted candidates, including those interviewed provisionally, will receive a Detailed Application Form (DAF) where they can indicate their preferred CAPF force.

4. Final Selection/Merit List:

• The final merit list will be based on the combined score from the written exam and interview.

   • The commission allows candidates to make corrections in any field of the application form for the current examination.
   • This window for modification will open the day after the application window closes and will remain open for seven days.
   • If you need to change your OTR profile during this period, you must do it through the OTR platform.
5. Withdrawal of Application:
   • Once you submit your application, you cannot withdraw it.
   • Ensure that all the information provided is accurate and complete before submission.
6. Submission:
   • Detailed instructions for filling out the online application form are available on the official website.
   • Carefully select your examination center while filling out the form.
   • Note that appearing at a center other than the one indicated by the Commission will lead to the cancellation of your candidature.
7. Submission of Hard Copy:
   • No hard copy of the application is required at this stage.
8. Eligibility Conditions:
   • Ensure that you meet all the eligibility conditions for the examination.
   • Admission to all stages of the examination will be provisional, subject to verification of eligibility.
9. Important Notes:
   • Incomplete or defective applications will be rejected.
